Clense . . . Walmart haircuts

Every spring I do a body cleanse called Isagenix. I haven’t eaten in two days. I drink this toxin cleansing tree bark junk that just makes me irritable. I always love the way I feel when I’m done and it does help to prepare my mind and heart for the summer both physically and spiritually. This stuff just tastes so bad that I actually have to hold my nose, drink it down and then chase it with water quickly before letting go of my nose. Jen is doing it with me so that makes it more fun. Tomorrow we get to eat our first meal together. Now that is going to be romantic. It’s going to sound like two wood chippers! Ha! The turning thirty years old issue is slowly setting in. There is a difference. French is always telling me that something clicks at 35 in the eyes of other people around you leadership wise. I think I can distantly see what he may be refereeing to now. It is funny how just one number can change perspective on a few things. One tipping point for me (in way of a confession) is that I now get my hair cut at Wal-Mart. Yep. For those of you who have know me for some time that may be a funny thought. French and I used to go to the same guy for hair cuts. His name is Shane. Shane owns an upscale (it is a cool place) salon downtown Joplin. Shane’s parents both met and worked the show scene in Vegas post WW2. Shane did for some time as well. Shane is a really cool guy with a unique testimony of faith. I always laugh because French calls him his barber. I like to interject that it is actually his hairdresser! Ha! I like going to Shane because the conversation is always interesting and fun; but getting my haircut at walmart this week was in some weird way a right of passage for the old Johnny. The old Johnny was fine and like him and I don’t have any problems with some of the things about old Johnny, but I sense over the past few months a different Johnny emerging. Since Jen and I have moved to CIY and became apart of this family so many things have changed. I have three kids, I cry at Hallmark commercials . . . what the crap is happening to me! Ha! I think I’ll go to Shane next time, they have free drinks and the décor is so much better than the walmart checkout lanes . . .
